TOMATO CHUTNEY | THAKKALI CHUTNEY | INDIAN DIP FOR IDLI & DOSA RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • Tomato                   – 4 medium
  • Onion                      – 1 medium
  • Dry red chili          – 3
  • Curry leaves         – few(for tempering)
  • Salt                         – for taste
  • Urad dal               – 1tbsp
  • Water                    – 1/4 cup
  • Oil                          – 3tbsp
  • Mustard seeds   – 1 tsp

METHOD

Heat 1 tbsp oil in kadai, add red chili, Urad dal, and roast until golden brown. Now add roughly chopped onion and tomato and cook until they become soft, add salt according to taste. When the mixture cools, grind into a paste and adjust consistency by adding water.

In another kadai, add 2tbsp oil and crackle mustard seeds and curry leaves and pour the tempering upon the chutney.
